ABOUT THE PRODUCTION TEAM AND CREW

DAVID AINSWORTH (Producer) is not new to SRT. He has served on the board last year and Produced Greetings.  David holds a BA degree in Humanities and a minor in Theater Arts from the University of San Diego, including a scholarship to study theatre at Oxford for a semester. In years past he has worked as a professional and amateur actor, has written two plays and also served in a production capacity in many shows in San Diego. He has also served on the board of ACT, as well as the grant-making arm of Biogen Idec (where he works by day). He is married to his lovely wife Marlene.

ANNA ASHMORE (Stage Manager) is very excited to be working as stage manager for Scripps Ranch Theatre again. Its her 3rd show here and currently not her last with them, as she’s been asked to stage manage our next show, Little Mary Sunshine.  She’s been doing theatre for 5 years now and plans on getting a Master’s degree in Stage Managing at UCSD. She’s done theatre at PowPAC, Westview High School and at Palomar College.

GORDON BERGHOLZ (Co-Producer, Sound Designer) is pleased to be working with Director David Kelso for the first time. "It's really an honor to be involved with someone who has directed some stellar productions in the greater San Diego theatre community". This is also the first time Gordon has worked with fellow Producer, David Ainsworth, "who brought his artistic talents to bear in this production". "I don't think we could have gotten this production off the ground without David's attention to detail in this endeavor". Gordon is also glad to be working with Jim Caputo again, who is responsible for the overall stage design for Lion in Winter.  Gordon would like to thank all of the great acting and production talent in beautiful San Diego and SoCal - "it's a pleasure to know and to work with all of you".

JAMES CAPUTO (Set Designer) Jim’s previous set designs at SRT include Maternal Spirits, Greetings and Scapino.  He also directed this year’s Scapino and last year’s Greetings.  Directing and designing are spare time activities for him. Jim’s main interest is writing.  He is an award-winning playwright, and his Maternal Spirits had its San Diego debut here at SRT. Jim is a member of the Dramatists Guild, The Scripps Ranch Theatre Board of Directors and the Actor’s Alliance of San Diego.

ROGER DREXLER (Property Master and Set Changer) Roger returns to SRT to recreate a part he has played several times on this stage.  Many of you will remember his work getting, setting, and cleaning the drinking glasses in Rumors. Who can forget his careful placement of the many tombstones leaves in the Cemetery Club? His craftsmanship highlighted the show Killjoy with the essential prop composed of thirty photographs carefully pieced together.  No one can forget the cleverly choreographed set-changers and prop-placers who provided the inspired dumb show between the scenes in Return Engagements, who aged along with the characters in the show.  That same level of skill and talent is applied for this production.

DICK EMMET (Dramaturgy) Dick Emmet is a retired judge from Alabama who moved to San Diego in 1978, from which time he has dramatized plays all over the County.

JAMIE HAIRE (Stage Crew) Jamie is originally from Texas where she majored in Theatre Arts at the University of Texas at El Paso. She has performed in several shows here in San Diego including Chick in Crimes of the Heart and Janie in Isn’t It Romantic at Poway Performing Arts Company and Cookie in Rumors here at Scripps Ranch Theatre. She has worked backstage for Scapino! and Greetings!  also here at SRT. Between shows Jamie enjoys visiting La Jolla Cove and being a docent for the La Jolla Friends of the Seals.

DAVID KELSO (Director) Most often a director, David re-visited his roots as an actor last September for the first time in five years.  You might have seen him as John Proctor in The Crucible at OnStage Playhouse.  Shows he's directed over the past eight years include The Laramie Project, Book of Days and Blue Window (OnStage); Keely & Du, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan and The Heidi Chronicles (PowPAC); Six Tarantulas On An Angel Food Cake (6th @ Penn and other local venues.  He'd like to thank his absolutely tireless, talented and inspirationally passionate team for every bit of magic that they've added to the show.  "Wow!  You guys are fantastic!"  ("Oh...and go see Nunsense at Lamplighters!")

CHRIS KENNEDY (Construction Manager) This is Chris' first production with SCR and is happy to be on board.  He is also the Technical Director for La Jolla Playhouse where he has managed pre-Broadway productions of 700 Sundays and the currently acclaimed Jersey Boys.  He holds a B.F.A. in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University.

ROSEMARY KING (Scenic Artist) Rosemary started painting scenery for On Stage Playhouse in 1978 for the production of All the Way Home. She has participated in the painting, construction, designing of sets for Scripps Ranch Community Theatre, Clairemont Players, OnStage, Poway and Coronado Playhouse for dozens of plays and has received numerous Aubrey nominations and awards. Rosemary says. “This is a work of love and I will continue to do what I can for as long as I can.”

KALY MCKENNA  (Assistant Director) is happy to be working with such a talented cast and crew.  You can usually find her on stage, such as in the award winning Laramie Project, but she is delighted to be assisting David with The Lion in Winter. It has been a challenging and inspirational process and she’s pleased to be part of a show with such intrigue, passion and sheer brilliance. Enjoy!

SCOTT PADRICK (Lighting Designer) Scott is pleased to be returning for another year at SRCT.  An active local designer, Scott has design credits with many corporate, theatrical and religious organizations all over the United States.  Recent designs include, The Wavehouse, in Belmont Park, various Disneyland Resort events and Scapino at SRCT.  When Scott is not making magic with lights, he enjoys spending time with his family, gourmet cooking, back-country excursions and water sports.

GRETEL SMITH (Costume Designer/builder) Gretel attended Goucher College where she majored in theatre with a performance and costuming concentration.  After college she was the Wardrobe Mistress for Ballet Theatre of Maryland as well as a Drama Teacher and costumer for BAPA Imagination Stage.  After a brief break from costuming and theatre she hopes to find a more permanent position in the field.
