The
Story: The Soapbox Theater is trying to rehearse on its 18th
holiday production of Christmas Carol. This theatrical troupe is about to
go belly-up and for good reason: Its your typical small theater band of
personalities and the inmates have been running the asylum.
If
some unknown inspector from the NEA doesn’t give them their grant, they
are going to have to close their doors. They know its it their last chance
and are on the lookout for the undercover inspector.
Of
course, a wanna-be, gawdawful actor gets mistaken for the inspector and
ends up cast in the arguably worst production of all time. Things very
literally fall apart at the seams as the troupe tries valiantly to pull
off a wildly different version of the classic and save the day.
It is “A Christmas Carol” meets “Noises Off” meets
“Waiting for Guffman”.
