Scripps Ranch Theatre Announces 'Readers Theatre' Talley’s FollyJanuary 7-8, 2005
On Friday and Saturday evenings, January 7th and 8th (at 8 p.m.), SRT will resume what we hope to establish as a tradition, "readers theatre" - semi-staged readings of plays we think will interest our audience. We are pleased to announce that this reading will be Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize- and New York Drama Critics Circle Award-winning play, Talley's Folly. Set in a decaying Victorian boathouse on a quiet river in Lebanon, Missouri on July 4, 1944, Talley's Folly depicts a pivotal evening in the relationship between Sally Talley, a daughter of Ozark gentry, and her St. Louis accountant Jewish suitor, Matt Friedman. It is a lyrical play - "a funny, sweet and touching love poem." The New York Times said, "Talley's Folly is a play to savor and cheer." As Matt tells us, the tale is "a waltz...a no-holds-barred romantic story."
Admission will be on a first-come basis on performance evenings; a $5 donatioquested. Put the dates on your calendar now - Talley's Folly will be a very special experience! All performances are held in the Legler Benbough theater on the campus of Alliant International University (formerly United States International University) at 10455 Pomerado Road in Scripps Ranch, one-half mile east of the I-15/Pomerado Road exit.
