Scripps Ranch Theatre Presents
"The O’Conner Girls”

Starts November 9, 2007 and runs through
December 8, 2007.

October 8, 2007 –  A drama by Kate Forgette, “The O’Conner Girls” is a heart-warming, wonderfully old fashioned play about families and love during the holiday season.  Starts November 9, 2007 and runs through December 8, 2007.

The show is produced by Barbara Barber, directed by Charlie Riendeau, and features  D’Ann Paton as Sarah O’Conner, Aimee Nelson as Liz O’Conner and Kelly Lapczynski as Martha O’Conner.  Meghan Kaheny plays Aunt Madge and Daniel Kosoy plays Dr. David Stevens.

The story takes place in 1997 in Minnesota over the Christmas holiday.  Tom O'Conner has passed away and his wife and children have reunited to excavate his mountain of personal effects.

As the family sifts through the boxes, clues to the quiet patriarch's life are discovered, prompting the usual heated arguments and some unusual revelations.  As the story of Tom and Sarah's marriage unfolds, the children are forced to reconsider their long-held opinions of their parents.  In the midst of this emotional afternoon a long-lost neighbor pays an unexpected visit. Also on the agenda for this day of upheaval are Catholicism, WWII, old movies, old love, new love, oversleeping, overdrinking, large purple hats, and weenie hot dishes.

According to Jill Drexler, Scripps Ranch Theatre’s Artistic Director, “The O'Conner Girls is one of those rare modern plays that reads like an old fashioned comedy/drama.  It is both witty and nostalgic; and though the family dynamics seems familiar in some ways, the plot turns out to be surprisingly unpredictable.”

All performances are held in the theater on the campus of Alliant International University (formerly United States International University) at 10455 Pomerado Road in Scripps Ranch, one-half mile east of the I-15/Miramar-Pomerado Road exit.
